There are many kinds of responses to stories posted by a news outlet on social media. I plan to dive into other types soon, but today – stand up night on the Facebooks.
Everybody’s a comedian. They’ll be here all week, month, year until there’s not a dry eye in the house — whether from laughing or crying. When it’s bad or depressing news – but nobody died – everyone has jokes. Today’s example: meth.
A meth bust is hilarious. A person whose life is obviously hard, made harder by addiction, compounded by legal trouble, is the funniest thing I’ve seen. And it seems I’m not alone. Here are some of the non-text responses to a news story about a woman and man ACCUSEDÂ of having a meth lab in their vehicle.
Dead meth head: It covers zombies and meth heads in one swift kick.
Redneck meth head: A default for someone without any creativity toward meme-ing.
And one more, just in case the first one wasn’t good enough.
Ancient Aliens guy: The classic Internet response to just about every story.
Dogs: A classic for anyone looking for an “awwww” and a laugh in the same space.
Cats: Because we already covered dogs.
Star Wars: And what comment thread is complete without a reference to scifi?
Poor Steve Buscemi: Proof that it’s not just women who are shamed for aging in Hollywood.
More Buscemi: Guy can’t win. Neither can his two lady-friends here.
Breaking Bad: Seriously, we know.
And the wild cards: Because all of the meth memes were taken. All the good ones, anyway.
