Social media, and the web in general, are playing a role in news-gathering on a local and national scale. For a social media class, I will be conducting a study, of sorts, on how local television news stations are using social media to interact with their audiences and using user-generated content in reporting and gathering news. I have lots of questions…. but no answers yet. Gotta start somewhere, right?
Being good at a lot of things, but not great at one thing in particular has always seemed like a negative in my professional life, but I’m learning the sum of my skills is bigger than I thought. Paired with a strong intuition for marketing and communicating and I’m feeling more and more like a force to be reckoned with!
Undergraduate schooling is all about tests and memorization. Basically a test to make sure you know how to learn. Graduate school is very different. Projects and papers are the name of the game. Explaining that I know something and not picking the answer from a list of options is my preference and now I really get to start bringing my interests and skills to the table. Bring it on!
