In an attempt to avoid the real work I need to do, I’m compiling a list of words that have appeared in Colbert’s opening intro. You know the one. The eagle, the flag, Colbert flying through the air and landing in an arena that looks like Betsy Ross threw up all over it. I’m in […]
Everyone has a “people in public” moment they can recall almost immediately. I guess it’s really not hard to catch people being stupid when there are a lot of people around. It’s like we all think we’re more and more alone the more people are around. You know, that moment when you’re standing there minding […]
I took a web journalism class this semester and absolutely LOVED it. At the beginning of the semester, we were assigned a news website to follow and analyze and then had to write blog-type essays about the site. This is one I thought was interesting, so I’m copy-and-pasting it here. Craigslist.org is one more in a […]
I’m in a class discussion right now, (yep, blogging in class), and we’re discussing a variety of social, political, and educational issues. It was recently brought to my attention that the salaries of everyone who works at this lovely state institution are public knowledge. They’re also easily accessible on the interwebs. I love apps that are actually useful for everyone, but may not be so well-known. There are four that I absolutely LOVE right now. Three of them […]
I really like tattoos. I think they are a fabulous, artistic expression. They allow us to carry memories with us everywhere we go. When all of the smartphones die, the radios fall silent, television become mouse motels and computers iMacs are reduced to tinted mirrors, tattoos will be the living, breathing medium we can all […]
It’s amazing how things change when you get “older.” I’m not comfortable with old, yet. Wait till 30. Anyway, I actually chose to go on a super nerdy conference trip instead of go on the traditional spring break trip this year. And I loved it!
The better technology gets, the more I hate it. I’m tied to it. Tethered. I can’t get away from it and I’m way to poor for that to be my life.
Being in graduate school is a sure recipe for a totally crappy sleep schedule. Being a complete insomniac doesn’t help, so my doctor prescribed me a sleep schedule I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy!
