Everyone has a “people in public” moment they can recall almost immediately. I guess it’s really not hard to catch people being stupid when there are a lot of people around. It’s like we all think we’re more and more alone the more people are around. You know, that moment when you’re standing there minding […]
I took a web journalism class this semester and absolutely LOVED it. At the beginning of the semester, we were assigned a news website to follow and analyze and then had to write blog-type essays about the site. This is one I thought was interesting, so I’m copy-and-pasting it here. Craigslist.org is one more in a […]
I’m in a class discussion right now, (yep, blogging in class), and we’re discussing a variety of social, political, and educational issues. It was recently brought to my attention that the salaries of everyone who works at this lovely state institution are public knowledge. They’re also easily accessible on the interwebs. It’s amazing how things change when you get “older.” I’m not comfortable with old, yet. Wait till 30. Anyway, I actually chose to go on a super nerdy conference trip instead of go on the traditional spring break trip this year. And I loved it!
The better technology gets, the more I hate it. I’m tied to it. Tethered. I can’t get away from it and I’m way to poor for that to be my life.
Being in graduate school is a sure recipe for a totally crappy sleep schedule. Being a complete insomniac doesn’t help, so my doctor prescribed me a sleep schedule I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy!
So here’s the deal. I was going to do this blog as a way to grow my writing and online networking skills. I know the deal with blogging — make tons of connections in online communities of people that blog and read blogs about similar content. Follow and be followed. Write write write until your […]
